TREO (Technology, Research, Education, and Opinion)

TREO (Technology, Research, Education, and Opinion) Talks offer presenters and participants a special opportunity to share early ideas, innovative teaching approaches, emerging tools or datasets, and viewpoints related to information systems, information technology, or the IS research community.

The main objective of TREO Talks is to create a platform where academics can exchange and refine ideas that are still in their early stages of development.

TREO Talk submissions consist of a one-page abstract, prepared using the official TREO template. Submissions are editorially reviewed to ensure relevance to the field of information systems and suitability for MCIS 2025. Accepted abstracts will be included in a TREO Talk session at the conference and published in the AIS e-Library (TREO Talks section), along with any supplementary material the presenter wishes to share. This ensures the discussion can continue beyond the conference presentation.

Researchers, particularly those from emerging economies, are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to share their ideas.

Examples of suitable TREO Talk topics include:

  • Advocating for a position or idea that benefits the IS community
  • Expressing opinions on issues in the IS field (e.g., journals, promotions, community practices)
  • Raising questions or debates for the IS community to consider
  • Presenting early-stage or developing research ideas
  • Inviting collaboration on new projects
  • Introducing new tools or datasets for the IS field
  • Sharing innovative teaching methods, tips, or course designs in IS/IT
