Alice du Teilleul, working alongside students to help bring their career plans to life

Alice Du Teilleul

Building a career is not just about finding an internship or polishing your resume. It is a journey that invites you to get to know yourself better, explore opportunities, and make informed choices.
For nearly three years, Alice du Teilleul, a career consultant at Audencia’s Career Center, has been guiding students through every step of the process with a practical, personalized, and deeply human approach, helping them move forward with confidence.

You are a career counselor at Audencia. What is your role, and more broadly, what is the role of the Career Center?

I support students in all programs as they reflect on and take steps toward their professional futures. This involves individual meetings and group workshops. I also serve as the point of contact for the Grande École Program, particularly for the pre-master’s and Master 1 levels, for which I design the career support pathway.

The Career Center is, in a way, a coaching and consulting firm integrated into the school, made up of career consultants who work across the various campuses. We all come from the recruitment world, which gives us a deep understanding of companies’ expectations, recruiters’ practices, and the realities of many industries. For my part, for example, I worked for six years in the luxury sector, which I know particularly well.

Our role is to help students move forward in a concrete way that’s tailored to their situation, whether they’re French or international. We support both those who want to build their careers in France and those aiming for opportunities abroad or in their home countries. We’re here to provide them with guidance, a structured approach, and personalized support. Plus, once they graduate, alumni can always take advantage of our services.

In practical terms, how do you support students on a day-to-day basis?

Our support is based on three complementary areas.

First, students can schedule individual appointments with us to work on their resumes and cover letters, prepare for interviews, review their internship or work-study program search, explore potential specializations, or clarify their career goals.

We also offer year-round career workshops and events on a variety of topics: job searching, using LinkedIn, salary negotiation, and preparing for career fairs. We also invite companies that are hiring, as well as Audencia alumni, to share their experiences and knowledge of various professions and industries. Our goal is simple: to meet students’ needs as closely as possible and adapt to their evolving circumstances.

Finally, students have access to numerous tools to help them progress independently: personality assessments, internship and job search tools, and even artificial intelligence solutions to analyze their applications and practice for interviews, pitches, or salary negotiations. In addition, we provide content tailored to specific sectors, professions, or certain profiles.

When can students reach out to the Career Center?

Anytime! As soon as you have a question about your career path, it’s a good idea to come see us.

No topic is “too small” and no idea is “too early” to discuss. Students can schedule appointments as often as needed and choose to see the same advisor if they want more regular follow-up or guidance on a specific area of expertise.

The most important thing is not to keep your questions to yourself. If a student wonders whether their question is “worth” an appointment, the answer is often yes.

What are the main concerns you see among students?

The two most common topics are, on the one hand, the difficulty of finding an internship or a work-study program—often accompanied by questions about resumes or application tools—and, on the other hand, the feeling of being lost when it comes to their career plans.

Many students wonder which path to choose, how to plan for the future, which specialization to select, or why their applications aren’t successful. These are very common questions, and they are perfectly legitimate.

What message would you like to convey to students?

First, I’d like to tell them that they’re not alone. Many students go through a phase of doubt, uncertainty, or a loss of confidence. That’s normal.

Second, I’d like to tell them that there’s no such thing as a “silly” question. The Career Center is here to help everyone gain clarity, structure their job search, (re)gain confidence, and move forward methodically. It’s not always a resume issue: sometimes, you also need to rework your strategy, your targeting, or how you organize your search. And that’s precisely where we can be helpful.

What I enjoy most are the moments when we help a student regain confidence, shift their perspective on their situation, and get back on track. It’s this very human aspect of support that I truly love.

Often, students already have plenty of resources. They simply need a framework, a conversation, an outside perspective, and a little push to move forward!
