How has the DBA experience changed your professional identity or self-perception?
Having a Chemical Engineering background, and changing careers mid-way to corporate and project finance, achieving the DBA allowed me to deepen my knowledge and skills in my specific area of interest. It has strengthened my professional network and has created more opportunities and pathways for my career. I am passionate about mentoring and coaching, and this degree has widened this platform for me. The DBA degree from Audencia, a Business School that is highly ranked, commands a deeper respect, both in the professional and personal space.
What were the most significant personal growth outcomes from your DBA journey?
Embarking on this DBA programme was a great way to upskill and re-energize myself. Pursuing this degree has helped me make a positive impact in my field, which can contribute to the overall economy of South Africa. I was able to contribute to the development of knowledge, policy, practice, and culture in my field and beyond through this degree. It helped to develop my critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and project management - skills that can make one more competitive and credible. Overall, it has enhanced my reputation as a female leader.
Has your DBA qualification led to career advancement or new opportunities? Please explain.
Yes. I have been offered opportunities for appointment on the Boards of companies as Director. I have also been offered more public speaking opportunities to share my story.
